High-tech aerowings are unique to the Laser eps, and they create a perfect helm position, reassuring extra buoyancy, and stability. In addition to obvious performance benefits, aerowings can be easily removed for cartopping or storage and are fully adjustable. The Laser eps has a lightweight carbon composite spar. Integral to the selection of this spar was the introduction of the mini-stay system. Comprising two stub-shrouds and a mini-forestay attached to a bearing on the mast at gooseneck level, the mini-stay system provides the helm with sophisticated rig control, and enables the rig to be tuned for optimum power according to the conditions.
